Obituary of William James West

William James West Jr. passed away on 8/25/ 2023, in his sleep. He was one of three children born to William James West Sr. and Diana Elizabeth West, and has surviving siblings Donna Marie Cuomo (FL) and Samuel Joseph West (PA). William graduated from Honesdale High School in 1991, and served in the United States Army not long afterwards, from 1999 to 2004. During this time, he received many awards and was also presented with honorary Medals of Achievement. William's service sent him on two tours in Bosnia. After serving in the Army, William entered the National Guard Reserves, always looking to contribute to the greater good, and for the comradery that came through service. He had an abundance of friends who considered him family. Billy (William) was always known for his loyalty, honesty, cracking jokes and his willingness to help. He was often seen helping just for the sake of helping.... like rounding up shopping carts and bringing them back into Weis, even though he wasn't working there! In William's younger years, he loved to go to Tanners Falls with his family, got his golden gloves in boxing (smile Sam), and played football. William was a loving Significant-other to DeeDee DeGraw of ten (of his happiest) years, a father to Zachary and Carissa West, an uncle to Randy Gager (Jr), Brian Becker, Autumn West, Sebastian West, and Madison West. He was a Great Uncle to Donavan Jordan and Nathaniel Avosso, and was a soon to be first-time grandfather from his son Zachary West and Sarah Halke- and boy was he excited about that?! William's memorial service will be held 10 AM on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 at Arthur A. Bryant funeral home on 1228 Main Street, Honesdale PA, 18431. Visitation will follow until 11:00 AM. Burial service, with honors, will be held at Indian Town Gap National Cemetery, Indian Town Gap Road, Annville PA, 17003 on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 at 2:30 PM. This service is reserved for, his family, military family, and closest friends. Sam West (Brother) and Donna Cuomo (sister) are requesting immediate family members be at the burial service at 1:00 p.m. for procession and Honorary Flag Assembly instructions.
