Betty Ann (Rutledge) Hopkins, 91, formerly of Tyler Hill PA, passed away on November 5, 2024 at Ellen Memorial Health Care, Honesdale PA. She was born in Callicoon, NY to Vernon J. and J. Alice Rutledge on April 25, 1933. She attended Damascus High School and graduated in 1951 where she was a member of the Damascus Basketball Conference Champions in the 1950-1951 season. She then went on to attend Wayne Commercial School. She worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank before becoming a wife and homemaker. Once her children were raised, she became a van school bus driver for Wayne Highlands School District, which she enjoyed tremendously. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Harold (Hoppy) Hopkins, her children, Donald (Patti) Scranton PA, Rosanne by (Charles) Alexander Rileyville PA, John (Linda) Windsor NY, Mark (Carol) Rileyville PA, Nancy (Ed) Hart Honesdale PA and daughter in law Holly Tyler Hill PA. Grandchildren Brett(Michelle), Matthew(Maura), Stephen(Casey), Shawn(Kathleen), Todd (Kaylan), Stephanie (Joe), Sarah(Brian), Christie(William), Scott(Jenna), Jenny(Jesse), Timothy(Brittany), Stacey(Colin) and Patrick. She also is the proud great grandmother of 23 cherubs. Sister in laws MaryEllen Rutledge, Jerri Hopkins and Sandy (Frank) Hartzel. Many nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Jerry (Jake) and 5 brothers, Leslie, Arthur, Cecil, Robert, Melvin and 5 sisters, Laurita, Marion, Lucille, Evelyn, Grace. Visitation will be held at Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 N. Main St., Honesdale PA on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 AM, with funeral services at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF)Hopkins Fund or Damascus Volunteer Ambulance.
