Betty Madelyn Hedden

Betty Madelyn Hedden, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. She was born on March 24, 1931, in Laurella, Pennsylvania, to Wayne D. Spettigue and Madeline E. Spettigue. Betty's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, William W. Hedden, her daughter, Rosalie Y. Crum, Grand-Daughters Michelle Bates and Brianna Demchak, brothers, Orville (Buddy) Spettigue and Vincent Spettigue, she now joins them in eternal peace, reunited in the embrace of their heavenly resting place.
Betty's memory will be cherished by her children, Craig D. Roberts and wife Barbara, Son-in-law Jim Crum (widowed), Melody A. Robbins and husband Craig, Daryl Garing and companion Victoria, Brent W. Hedden and wife Laura, and Brian W. Hedden and wife Lisa including (15) Grandchildren, (21) Great-Grandchildren, and (3) Great-Great Grandchildren
As a mother, Betty's love knew no bounds. She was a constant source of support, encouragement, and unwavering love. Her children were her pride and joy, and their happiness was her greatest achievement. Betty's legacy will forever live on through her devoted children and the values she instilled in them.
Betty enjoyed time spent serving those she loved most as a homemaker. Additionally, Betty enjoyed periods of employment at Ladore Lodge, Ellen Memorial Health Care and K-Mart where she made countless friendships and touched the lives of many. Her warm smile and compassionate heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Betty was gifted with the love of music and singing from an early age. Betty used her voice as a testament and love for her lord and savior throughout her life up to her last day. Her melodious voice would fill listeners with faith and happiness. Whether it was singing in church, in a choir, weddings, funerals or community events, Betty's voice was a gift she generously shared with the world.
Betty was a resilient and kind-hearted woman who touched the lives of many. Her legacy of love, compassion, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Torrey Cemetery, Honesdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Betty had a heart full of compassion for children, and supporting this worthy cause would be a meaningful way to honor her memory.
