ROSELLA SCULL
Rosella Scull, age 89, of Honesdale, passed away December 24, 2023 at home with her family by her side.
Born August 2, 1934, she is the daughter of the late Betsy Marshall and Leonard Troop. Her husband of 65 years, Raymond Scull, preceded her in death in 2016.
Raised on the family farm in Beach Lake, she married Ray on February 17, 1951 while he was still serving in the Navy during the Korean War. Finally settling in Honesdale to raise a family, Rosella worked for many years in manufacturing, first at Katz Underwear Co. as a piece worker, and then at Chroma Tube in assembly. She was then employed by the Wayne County Domestic Relations Department until her retirement.
A woman of many talents, Rosella excelled at sewing, making many of the clothes we wore over the years, and baking, most notably the dozens of cookies she would make at Christmas to share with co-workers, friends, and family. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her roses. Mostly, she delighted in having her grandchildren and now her great grandchildren come spend time with her and do activities. She could frequently be found in the bleachers enthusiastically cheering all of them on during sports and 4-H competitions.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandi Scull, Bonnie Scull Blair, and son, Ron Scull & wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Jessica Scull & fiancé, Joe Gries, Kristen Scull, Rebecca Wadeson & husband, Chris, all of Honesdale; Danielle Blair, Colorado Springs, CO; McKenzie Blair-Welsh & husband, Kody, Colorado Springs, CO; and great grandchildren, Owen, Ethan, Kinley & Braden; sister Betty Pelton, DeBary, FL, nephew Bill Troop and wife, Beth and family of Atco; nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by extended family Jack and Barbara Oberly, SD; Tom Oberly, FL, and Sue Oberly Spitzer and husband Jamie, CO.
She is pre-deceased by her brother, John Troop.
A heartfelt thanks to the team at Wayne Memorial Hospice for their dedicated care and support to the family through the last few months.
Friends may call Saturday December 30 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Bryant's Funeral Home; North Main Street; Honesdale prior to funeral services at 11:00 AM; interment to follow at Indian Orchard Cemetery with Beth Troop officiating.
