Obituary of Joyce A. White

Joyce A (Clark) White, age 86 of Honesdale PA passed away on Wednesday morning, June 7, 2023 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late James T White who died December 10, 2006. Born March 15,1937 in East Benton Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B Clark and Marguerite (Jones) Clark. She was a 1956 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School Carbondale PA. She worked in Laura Jane Dress Factory and then as a clerk at The Salt Shaker. She was a faithful member (64 years) of Central United Methodist Church, Honesdale, a choir member for 61 years. She served on the Flower Committee, Staff Parish Relations Committee & was a member of the XYZs. She lived a life of prayer - prayer was like breathing for her. No day can be boring when God is in it and God is in all our seemly insignificant moments of life. Joyce enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, feeding the birds and having a flower garden. Being Nana (aka the Nan) was a great joy in her life. She is survived by a sister Sue Langan and husband Bill Morris of Ramsey, NJ and a sister-in- law Patricia (Raymond) Clark, Carbondale Pa. Her two daughters Christine (Skip) Seitz, Honesdale PA & Debora (Paul) McDonald, Simpsonville SC and her two sons Thomas (Cindy) White, Tafton PA & William (Pam) White, Honesdale PA: her five grandchildren Jennifer Seitz and Steve Bates, Honesdale PA; Cody McDonald & Krystal MacKnight, San Rafael CA; Kiley McDonald, Brooklyn NY; Lauren (Stephen) Palmer MD; & William White, IN; two great grandsons, a great granddaughter & a great granddaughter expected in August; several nieces and nephews and extended family. Also her dear friends Ruth Haussler & Dorothy Wilcox. She was preceded in death by two sisters Donna Ciceroni and her twin, Janice Roskosky and her brother Raymond Clark. Joyce's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care she received from Wayne Memorial Hospital, Ellen Memorial Health Care Center of Honesdale & Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore on her journey home to the Lord. They are grateful to the many friends who visited, made phone calls and sent cards. Joyce was comforted by each of them. A celebration of life will be held on Monday June 26, 2023 in the Wesley Room of Central United Methodist Church, 205 11th Street, Honesdale PA at 11:00AM with Pastor Eric Funk officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30AM - 11:00AM in the Wesley Room. A private interment at Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Central United Methodist Church, 205 11th Street, Honesdale PA 18431 for a new handicap entrance to the social room or to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 1112 Clay Avenue, Dunmore PA 18510.
