Obituary of David R. Koepke

David Rex Koepke passed away at home Wednesday, February 9, 2022 of natural causes. He was born on December 3, 1948 in Bethesda, MD to Milton and Ruth Koepke. He graduated from Robert E Peary High School in 1966 and attended the University of Maryland in College Park before traveling across the United States. He spent several years residing in both California and Hawaii. Upon returning to the east coast, Dave entered the Hospitality Industry. He worked in Washington, D.C. at Nathan's of Georgetown for several years and subsequently accepted a position at The Ravaelled Sleeve Restaurant in New York City. In New York City he met and married his wife of 36 years, Jill Glasgall Koepke. They moved to Honesdale in 1985 and owned and operated the Harvest Cafe on 10th Street until 1994. In 1992 they adopted their daughter Melinda from Guatemala and completed their family. Dave was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved playing chess, listening to classic rock and Motown, reading and attending movies. He was a talented artist and his medium was collage using recycled paper. He donated his artwork to be featured at the Wayne County Public Library artist rotation. Dave was an avid tennis player for many years and walked daily at the Honesdale High School Track. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Jill, daughter and son-in-law Melinda and Christopher A Stanton, grandson Christopher, Jr. and granddaughter Eloise of Harwood, MD. His surviving siblings include Peter K. Koepke of Redway, CA. , Mark E. Koepke and wife Denise Knoebel-Koepke of Bruceton Mills, WV, Tina Koepke of Hedgesville, WV, Jane Keller and husband Nick Keller of Sandy Spring, MD and John L. Koepke of Thurmont, MD A memorial service will be held later in the year in Maryland with his family.
