Dear Gager Family, I have known Barb while working at AGLC. In the 9 months that I have been at the Center, Barb/Gramma was a welcome and familiar sight; often with a Dunkin coffee nearby (gone cold), often with kids heralding her arrival then crowded around her lap, often sitting on the floor soothing a child to sleep. In addition to reading stories like a Gramma would; she was one of our first responders to show up if someone called out...maybe a few hours later, just like a Grandma would. We shared stories and current events and opinions about Family; and we were cut from the same cloth. When she told me about plants and flowers, she was just like my Mom. We talked about kids and recipes; and it was like a quilting-bee, where we just sewed all the pieces together. She was easy and real, strong and true. We conspired and competed and shared ideas about art projects. I enjoyed and believed everything about her except this. I cannot believe that she will not be looking to warm up her coffee in the kitchen around 2:30 in the afternoon. My heart is breaking for all of you. Peace be with you.
