Earl H. Mohn of Beach Lake left the beautiful earth to join the heavenly father on Sunday, November 18, 2018. He was married to Kathryn S. Stalker Mohn and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in April 2018.
Born August 29, 1927 at Ticonderoga, NY, he was the son of the late Herman John and Reba Louise Eldred Mohn. He was raised on the family farm. In his early life he worked at Denny Garage in Narrowsburg and was an active dedicated fireman for the Narrowsburg Fire Department and supported their volunteer activities for 50 years. A graduate from Damascus High School, he became an educated mechanic and tradesman. Earl was involved with the construction of the Neversink Dam and Tunnel system. He retired from Operating Engineers Local 825 of NY,NJ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with many friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Mohn of Beach Lake with whom he resided. He is survived by his son, Rodney and wife Susan Diehl Mohn of Beach Lake; daughter, Denise and husband, David Watson of Idaho and son James and wife, the late Tina Lennert Mohn. He joyfully helped raise three grandchildren Forrest, Haliey and Jenna and they kept him young with getting stuck in the mud and snow, learning to drive, fishing and hunting, playing in the band and going to church functions etc.
His eldest grandchild, Katerina Mohn Dermody and husband Major Brian Dermody of Watertown, NY added to the family two precious great grandchildren, Grace and Hannah.
He is survived by a sister, Joyce Mohn Shaffer, of Virginia and her children and families Cheryl, Gary and Debra. A brother, William and wife, Judith Brown Mohn and their children Randall, Lori, Timothy and William and their families.
Earl loved to visit and help neighbors and friends and traveling in his little red pick-up truck to many fire company, school and church events.
He was a dedicated member of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church and happy to help with the children's playground, Whispering Pines, church trustee and in any other positive way he could assist. Other fun included vintage cars, riding in a refurbished pick-up truck, flying with a special friend and telling stories and he delighted in any type of fish dinner.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Beach Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barbara Snyder officiating. Friends may visit the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
