Obituary of Elizabeth H. Gries

Elizabeth M. Gries, 88, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Rochester, New York passed away July 24, 2018 at home in Winter Haven. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Gries on January 11, 2013. Born May 20, 1930 in Rochester, New York, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Marie (Urich) Mayer. Elizabeth graduated from Rochester University, and was a Registered Nurse for many years. She and LeRoy enjoyed many happy years in Florida. They traveled back to Wayne County for many summers where they spent time with family. They were long-standing members of the Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven. She is survived by a niece, Evelyn "Lynn" Urich; a nephew, William "Chris" Auer Jr.; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families. She was preceded in death by a brother, Otto Urich; and a sister, Ruth Auer. Graveside Funeral Services and burial will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus with Pastor Lane Jones of the Calkins Baptist Church officiating.
