Obituary of Janice F. Goodwin

Janice Florence Goodwin of Honesdale, died Friday afternoon, May 25, 2018 at home surrounded by her family after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years John "Jack" Goodwin, Jr. in 1991.
Born in Carbondale, PA October 26, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Carl and Florence (White) Oakley.
She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School. Janice worked in the garment industry as a blind stitcher in the Carbondale area in the 1950s. She married Jack Goodwin in 1957 and together they owned and operated two successful businesses, Goodwin's Carpet in Prompton and Goodwin's Transportation in Dyberry. She was a life-long and active member of Canaan Bible Chapel in Lake Ariel, PA.
Janice was a hard working woman who always gave of herself and what she had to help any family and friends with whatever they might need. Her contagious laugh and brilliant blue eyes will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three children: Beth Ann Smith, Nazareth; Kevin Goodwin, Honesdale and Dan Goodwin and wife Lynne, Honesdale; six grandchildren: Brandon Smith and wife Katlyn Yoder Smith, Fort Polk, LA; Nicholas Smith, Allentown; Angelo Smith, Nazareth; Max Goodwin and Mercedes Goodwin, both of Honesdale, and Jack Goodwin, Honesdale. She is also survived by two sisters, Donna DeGroat and husband Clinton, South Cannan and Karen Gareis, Carbondale, and several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Molly.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter Sherry (age 5, 1964), sisters Beverly Richner and Joan DeNunzio.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Canaan Bible Chapel, 30 Hemlock Road, Lake Ariel, PA.
A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
Interment: Fairview Cemetery, Elmhurst, PA.
