Obituary of John W. Packer

John Packer, 71, of Girdland, PA, passed away June 23, 2017. Born in Camden, NJ, on May 4, 1946. He was a graduate of Southwest Miami High School. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart. He had worked for the Moore Business Form Company for many years and was a school bus driver for the Wayne Highlands School District. In addition, he was a volunteer for the local fire department, rescue diver, and a member of the Tabernacle Bible Church. John was a caring person and enjoyed farming, hunting, 4-wheeling, and volunteering for his community.
Preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Packer and his father, Byron D. Packer, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Jones, of Ocala, FL, one brother, three sisters, several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous family members and friends.
A special thank you from the family to all of his many friends and the Damascus Ambulance service.
Visitation for friends is Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Tabernacle Bible Church, 455 Grove Street, Honesdale, PA, 18431. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Girdland Cemetery, Girdland, PA. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Tabernacle Bible Church, Honesdale, PA.
