Obituary of Bjorg Nilsen

Bjorg "BJ" Nilsen, 87, of Honesdale, formerly of Smithtown New York, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rolf Nilsen on December 10, 2010. They were married in Norway on June 21, 1952. Born April 30, 1930 in Rjukan, Norway she was the daughter of the late Einar and Sofie Zimarseth. BJ devoted her life to her husband and lovingly cared for him for many years as he coped with the consequences of multiple sclerosis. She loved her family more than anything and especially loved her great-grandchildren. Her family will be comforted by the many good memories they shared with her. BJ loved to go out to eat and also enjoyed ice cream. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. BJ is survived by her loving daughter, Bente Schmidt of Honesdale; two grandsons: Jonathan Schmidt and his wife Jennifer of Honesdale, and Ryan Schmidt and his partner Stephanie Collins of Ronkonkoma, New York; and two great-grandchildren: Riley and Tucker. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. In the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, Milanville Road, Beach Lake PA with Pastor Scott Brodd officiating. Interment will be in Norway as she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
