James Vincent Litzenbauer
February 16, 1950 - December 7, 2016
On Wednesday, December 7, 2016, after a short illness, James Vincent Litzenbauer, a life-long resident of Abrahamsville, PA, passed away peacefully at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by his loving family. He was 66.
Jim was born on February 16, 1950, in Honesdale, PA, the son of Pearle Wanda Coe Litzenbauer and Thomas John Litzenbauer. A graduate of Damascus High School, he was a member of the Abrahamsville United Methodist Church. He married Josephine Deck on January 15, 1983, and the couple would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary in January.
In his early years, he worked on the family farm in Abrahamsville, but carpentry was his true calling and his life's vocation. He loved working with wood and was truly a master craftsman.
For enjoyment, Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a wonderful family man who treasured time spent with his family and his many friends, as well as with his beloved pets, especially his Lucy and Maxine.
He will be remembered in many ways, but especially as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Josie; four children: Jason Litzenbauer and his wife Nicole of Honesdale, Thomas Litzenbauer and his wife Rebecca of Abrahamsville, Michele Litzenbauer and her fiance Chris Kelley of Dallas, and Bindy Richards of Simpson; and six grandchildren: AnnaLee, Jaylyn, Emma, Levi, Brittani and Cheyenne. He is also survived by a brother, John Litzenbauer and his wife Betsy of Honesdale, and two sisters, Joan Litzenbauer of Honesdale, and Jean Price and her husband Randy of Abrahamsville, along with several nieces and a nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11am at the Lookout Fire Hall, Route 191, Lookout.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale. To send a personal condolence or share a special memory, please visit www.bryantfuneralhome.com.
