Obituary of John Pykus

John Pykus passed away after a lengthy illness at Wayne Memorial Hospital on December 5, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Betty Wilcox Pykus. On December 22, 2016 they would have celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
John was born in Cold Springs the son of Metro and Mary Kulick Pykus . He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later operated a dairy farm. John worked for eight years for the PA Department of Transportation and ten years for the Wayne Highlands School District in the maintenance department. He was an outdoors man who loved his tractors, hunting, fishing, and will be remembered for his many stories. John especially loved to read periodicals.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Janet Guinther and her husband Daniel, Judy Pykus Regan and her husband Terry of Elmwood Park, NJ; two grandchildren, Ashley and Cody Guinther of Honesdale; one great grandchild, Sophie Demeraski of Honesdale.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Pykus; sisters, Mary Titus and Mildred Warwick; brothers, Frank Pykus, Michael Pykus, Louis Pykus, and Andy Pykus.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street Honesdale with the Rev. Jane Pykus officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM
