Obituary of Florence S. Shepard

Florence Smith Shepard, 88, of Honesdale died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Her husband Donn Shepard died on January 15, 2015. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 12. Born in Nice, France, daughter of the late Houghton Cranford Smith and Elena Peralta Smith, she and her husband had operated the Brookside Country Store and Cabins in Dyberry Township. She was a devoted wife and mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Lea Handler of Boston and three grandchildren: Andrew Handler and his wife Danielle of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Keith Handler of Stanford, Connecticut and Elise Handler of Newton, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by three children: Dee, Cindy, and Brad Shepard and a son-in-law, James Handler. Private services will be held in Massachusetts. Arrangements are attended by Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa.
