Philip E. English, 85, of Seelyville, died Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Creekside Health & Rehab Center, Carbondale, PA after an illness. He is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Bertha E. Kromer English.
Born August 19, 1928 in Waterville Pennsylvania, Lycoming County, he was the son of the late Elmer and Lillian Miller English.
Philip was a member of the Seelyville Fire Company for many years; and he attended the Seelyville Chapel. He worked for Avery Transportation for nearly 20 years as a bus driver. Following his time with Avery's, Philip worked as a custodian for the Wayne Highlands School District for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, and being outdoors. Philip will be remembered as one who liked to tinker around the home, even lending a hand with the housework. He was a loving husband and father; he will be dearly missed by many friends and family.
He is also survived by two daughters: Linda Barr and her husband Burns of Chambersburg, PA, and Susan Huber and her husband Carl of Punxsutawney, PA; two grandchildren: Angela Barr and Christopher Barr and his wife Tammy; and two great-grandchildren: Drake and Porter Barr.
He was also preceded in death by six sisters: Hester Myers, Myrtle Stradley, Hilda Gibson, Viola Wright, Eleanore Myers, and Wilma Hubler; and one infant brother: Guy English. Philip was the last surviving member of his family.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Philip's friend, George Piercy officiating.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
