Catherine Victoria Savage Palko, 83, of Waymart died Saturday morning, January 25, 2014 at Wayne Woodlands Manor after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Leonard Palko who passed away in December of 2010. Born in Waymart, she was the daughter of the late John and Victoria Savage. She was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Patrick and St. Mary's Churches. Catherine attended Waymart School. Before retirement, she was employed as a seamstress at Katz Factory and Waymart Knitwear. She enjoyed reading and going to the senior center to play bingo. She also enjoyed short bus trips to various functions. Catherine's family would like to thank Wayne Memorial 4th Floor nurses for their compassionate care. Also a special thank you is extended to Marion Swencki and the staff at Wayne Woodlands Manor for all their loving and compassionate care. She is survived by two sons: Blaise Joseph Palko and his wife Lucy of Lake Ariel, and Louis Leonard Palko and his companion Vicki of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; three daughters: Rose Roberts and her husband Fred of Waymart, Julie Martzen and her husband Jim of Waymart, and Catherine Howell and her companion Rick of Waymart; a sister: Ruth Mousley of Waymart; a brother, Robert Savage of New York; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Joe, Nick, Mike, Steve, Andy, and Frankie; and a sister, Margaret. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services.
