Obituary of Duane J. Gillette

Duane J. Gillette, 67, of Honesdale, died Friday August 16, 2013 in the VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.
Born on March 12, 1946 in Narrowsburg, New York, he was the son of the late Floyd and Marion (Yatho) Gillette.
Duane worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator, primarily in the stone and quarry industry. He was the former proprietor of Fine Line Auto in Hancock, New York; he was also an avid race fan who enjoyed working on cars. Duane loved many things in life, especially coffee, and spending time with friends and family; and eating meals at Jennz Caf. He was always eager to lend his help on the farm during haying season with his grandson. Duane was a one-of-a-kind man with a tremendous heart. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He treasured his dog Skip; and he devoted his life to his family.
He is survived by four children: Rebecca Burke and her husband Thomas of Honesdale, Jennifer Rutledge and her husband Daniel of Tyler Hill, Teresa Rowe and her husband Jacob of Honesdale, and Shane Sullivan of Honesdale; seven grandchildren: Michael Burke and his wife Rozalyn, Jordan Burke, and Kristin Burke, DJ Rutledge and his fianc Amy Meyer, Brooke Rutledge, Hayden Rowe, and Delaney Rowe; two great-grandchildren: Olyvea Burke and Nathan Burke.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Charles Gillette, and an infant sister, Marilyn.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
Friends may visit on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
Interment will be in the Indian Orchard Cemetery.
