Obituary of Esther Garing

Esther Irene Garing, 87 of Honesdale passed away at home on Sunday, March 31, 2013 following an illness. Born July 28, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ida Zantowsky. She attended the Beach Lake Consolidated School and Wayne Commercial School. After graduation, she worked briefly in a sewing factory in Seelyville and then at Matter's Garage in Honesdale. She married her husband of 65 years, Benjamin F. Garing Jr., on October 29, 1947 and worked side by side with him on the family farm until their retirement. Even after retirement, she still continued with her love of cooking, baking, and vegetable gardening. Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband Benjamin F. Garing Jr.; a daughter, Irene L. Panfili and her husband Dennis; a son, Walter J. Garing and his wife Nancy; a grandson, Shawn P. Garing and his wife Rebecca; a great-grandson, Tyler S. Garing; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Virgil Zantowsky. Esther was a member of the Christadelphian Ecclesia in Honesdale. Her family would like to give a special thanks to all her caregivers, doctors, ambulance and hospital staff who helped in her time of need. Also to her church family and many neighbors for their visits and prayers. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa. Interment will be in the Indian Orchard Cemetery, Honesdale. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 PM In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Honesdale Christadelphian Ecclesia, 204 Water Street, Honesdale, Pa 18431, the Honesdale Fire Department 500 Grove St. Honesdale, Pa 18431, the local ambulance service or the charity of your choice.
