Russell "Buddy" Scott, 76, of Damascus, died Tuesday morning, February 26, 2013 at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Labar. They were married in 1980.
Born on April 20, 1936 in Oneonta, NY, he was the son of the late Russell C. Scott and Eleanor Kirk Scott of Honesdale.
Buddy was a life-long dairy farmer. He was a member of the Dairyman's League. Buddy also was an avid woodsman, working the past several years splitting and delivering firewood. He loved his farm, the animals, and the land. Buddy enjoyed country music; he especially loved to be outdoors. More than anything, Buddy loved his family best.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Niles C. Scott, and a nephew, Harold Niles Scott. After his death, Buddy raised Harold's three sons: Barry Lee Scott, John Wesley Scott, and Heath Niles Scott who also survive him.
He is also survived by three additional nephews with whom he had a special friendship: Scott Bush, Adam Lyons, and Russell Lyons; a brother: Donald R. Scott and his wife Mary Jane of Texas; two sisters: Marian V. Bush, and Linda Lyons, both of Damascus; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with his cousin, Gary Slish officiating.
Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday, March 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., and on Saturday, March 2, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Memorial Service.
