Robert C. Stiles, 63, of Honesdale, died unexpectedly Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Wilkes Barre VA Hospital. He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, the former Donna M. Arnold. They were married on July 3, 1971.
Born on December 10, 1948 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Edgar G. and Louise E. (Coons) Stiles.
Bob graduated from Waymart High School, Class of 1967. Following graduation, he went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War while stationed in Germany. Upon returning to Wayne County, Bob attended the Wayne Commercial School. For many years he was employed as a Clerk for S.J. Bailey & Son Furniture Company in Honesdale. He also worked at "Highlights for Children" and enjoyed his job of answering mail sent by children from across the world. Most recently, Bob was employed by the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging in the Transportation Department. Bob was an enthusiastic and dedicated member of the Aldenville Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, an usher, sang in the choir, and also read scripture. He was well known for serving in children's ministry, playing wonderfully the part of a clown; he had a heart for children, and above all else loved his own grandchildren more than anything in the world. He will be remembered as a selfless, kind, and giving man. He will be dearly missed.
Also surviving are two children: Craig Stiles and his wife Julie of Honesdale, and Aimee Skelton, also of Honesdale; four grandchildren: Mitchell Skelton, Riley Skelton, Craig Stiles Jr., and Jacob Stiles; three brothers: Gerald Stiles of Canton PA, Davy Stiles of Honesdale, and William Stiles of New Jersey.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Janice Winters, and a brother: Daniel Stiles.
