Obituary of Alice M. Rivenburg

Alice M. Rivenburg, 78, of Honesdale, died Thursday morning, November 8, 2012 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale after an illness. She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, George H. Rivenburg. They were married on April 24, 1950 in the Bethany United Methodist Church.
Born on March 30, 1934 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Grant Samuel Collins and Clara Alberta Pethick Collins.
Alice was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and helped with many meals and church dinners. For several years she served as the Treasurer of the East Dyberry Cemetery Association. Alice was also a former member of the Honesdale Bowling League. She loved crocheting, flowers, gardening, and canning vegetables; she was also well known for baking pies and cookies. Alice will be remembered as a loving person who was willing to go without, in an effort to help others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is also survived by three children: Donna Smith of Tunkhannock, Mary Kipp and her husband Larry of Hawley, and David Rivenburg of Honesdale; a son-in-law, Ken Sweeney of Middletown, NY; a brother: Arthur J. Collins of Vestal, NY; four grandchildren: Alan French, Jason Kipp, Dustin Rivenburg, and Kassandra Rivenburg; two great-granchildren: Kathryn French and Maureen French.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Betty Sweeney; a daughter-in-law, Penny Rivenburg; and six siblings: Margery Freiermuth, Bertha Dunn, Robert Collins, Florence Stuart, Earl Collins, and Grant Collins.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Small officiating.
Friends may visit on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice's memory to the Bethany United Methodist Church, Bethany Pa.
Interment will be Tuesday in East Dyberry Cemetery, Honesdale.
