Obituary of Ruth I. Fasshauer

Ruth I. Fasshauer, 94, of Honesdale, PA died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center after an illness.
Born on March 24, 1918 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Isabel Hiller Fasshauer. Ruth graduated from Honesdale High School in 1935.
Ruth worked at Katz Underwear factory from the time of graduation until 1967 when she joined the family business, Art's Apparel. She worked for the business until her retirement in 2002. Ruth was a devoted member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Luther League. Her passions in life included her family, golf, and playing cards with her friends. Ruth was a 50 year member of the former Washington Irving Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron. She also was formerly active in the Girl Scouts as a Troop leader. Ruth had a "larger than life" personality; she had a strong and confident character and was respected as a leading member of the greater Honesdale community.
She is survived by two sister in laws: Eloise Fasshauer of Honesdale and Ruby Fasshauer of Ohio; three nieces: Ruth Anne Lamb and her husband Charles of Ohio, Mary Lloyd and her husband Paul, and Jane and Jerry Theobald, all of Honesdale; a nephew: Tom Fasshauer and his wife Gail of Beach Lake; great nieces and nephews: Gregory Lloyd, Jason Theobald, Tracy Theobald, Marissa Fasshauer, Brad Fasshauer, and Jared Fasshauer, Mark Fleeger, Jeff Fleeger.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers: Arthur E. Fasshauer and Bernard Fasshauer.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter officiating.
Graveside services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Interment: St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Honesdale, PA.
