William M Woodward, 84, of Waymart passed away Friday, April 24, 2026 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Elaine Woodward who passed away January 17, 2023. Born February 7, 1942 in Philadelphia he was a son of the late Arnold and Dorothy (VanBlarcom) Woodward. He enlisted in the Army National Guard of New Jersey in 1964 and retired after 36 years of service obtaining the rank of Sergeant Major. He retired as an agent for Prudential in Honesdale and along with his late wife they owned and operated the Valleyview Farm & Campground for 50 years. He was active with the Boy scouts of Pleasant Mount and was instrumental in their to travel to the St. Croix Boy Scout Camp in the US Virgin Islands. He served as President of the Pleasant Mount Community Center, was the current President of the Wayne County Redevelopment Authority and was active in the VFW of Pleasant Mount. He enjoyed going to breakfast in Forest City and looked forward to lunch with his lunch group the “ROMEOs” (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Surviving are a daughter Jane M. Woodward of Honesdale, twin brothers Russell Woodward and his wife Margaret of New Jersey and Donald Woodward and his wife MaryAnn of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard Woodward. A special thank you goes to the staff of Ellen Memorial for the care William received during his stay. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 N. Main St., Honesdale, PA 18431 with Pastor Mary Bryant officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop #407 or the Pleasant Mount Community Center, both at 377 Great Bend Tpke, Pleasant MT., PA 18453.
